Obituary for Barbara Ellen Husted (McPhail-VasBinder)

Barbara Ellen Husted (McPhail-VasBinder), age 77, passed away quietly on Friday morning, February 21, 2014, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
She was born the daughter of George W. McPhail and Jeanetta Jean Hayes on Oct 11, 1936, in Midland, Michigan. Before retiring, Barbara worked as a creative Seamstress and Designer. She had created several of the Homecoming Dresses worn by Central Michigan University Homecoming Queens throughout the 1960’s – 1970’s. She enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling, story-telling, and most of all, her family. Barbara was a delightfully bright soul with ever a story to share and a smile to brighten the room. She had an excellent memory and the “Gift of Gab”. She never forgot a person she met, nor news she learned regarding the people she cared about. She enjoyed many of the fine arts and enjoyed collecting and sharing.
Barbara is survived by her children, Sherry Herber, Jerry (Johanne DuFort) Willey, and Connie (Ronald) Napier; sister, Joan (Rodney) Mainhood; half-brother, Ray Crall; grandchildren, Brandon Willey, Laura Willey, Brian Willey, Nick Herber, Rochelle Herber, Ashlea Brunk, and Emma Napier; former husband, James Powell; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Joseph Willey; her former husband, Leroy Husted; and her half-brother, David Hayes.
A Memorial Service of Barbara’s life will take place at the end of April 2014, at the Homer Cemetery Chapel, Midland, Michigan, where she will be interred. More information on Barbara will be announced when the service is scheduled.
